Gary R. Chaplin Appointed to Three-year Term

BLOOMINGTON, IN

The Ivy Tech Community College State Board of Trustees unanimously voted to reappoint Gary R. Chaplin of Martinsville to a three-year term on Ivy Tech – Bloomington’s Regional Board of Trustees. Chaplin’s reappointment is effective beginning July 1, 2005.
Chaplin is a graduate of Martinsville High School, took pre-law classes at Indiana State University, studied business technology at the Ollivetti Business School and completed computer information systems courses at Ivy Tech. He started his first privately owned company in 1984 and this firm is still in operation. He sold a second privately owned company in 1989. He has also worked for the State of Indiana Department of Administration and was a manager for G.R.
Brinkman Entertainment, Inc. He is currently an Investment
Representative with Edward Jones Investments and is just
completing a one-year term on the Ivy Tech – Bloomington
Regional Board.
Ivy Tech - Bloomington’s Chancellor, John Whikehart, says
that he looks forward to Chaplin’s ongoing service to the
College. “Gary has been an asset to Ivy Tech this last year
and has helped us reach out to the Martinsville area. I look
forward to continuing that work with him as we create a
comprehensive community college for all six counties in our
service area.”
Chaplin is currently a member of the Martinsville Rotary
Club, the Morgan Hospital & Medical Center Community
Advisory Board, and the Board of Directors for Martinsville
Community Corrections. Other accomplishments include being
past chair of the Greater Martinsville Chamber of Commerce
and a past president of the Martinsville Rotary Club.
