Ivy Tech-Bloomington Now Offering Classes in Martinsville

Officials at Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington announced today that academic courses will be offered in Martinsville, Indiana. Beginning this fall, courses including an Introduction to Psychology, Basic Algebra and English Composition will be taught by Ivy Tech-Bloomington faculty at Martinsville High School.
Prospective students will need to go through the admissions process for Ivy Tech-Bloomington, which includes an application and placement test. Psych 101 (Introduction to Psychology) and ENG 111 (English Composition) will be offered on Tuesdays, 6 pm-9 pm. MAT 050 (Basic Algebra) will be offered on Thursdays, 6 pm-9 pm.
John Whikehart, Ivy Tech Community College – Bloomington Chancellor, says that representatives of Ivy Tech-Bloomington worked with the Greater Martinsville Chamber of Commerce, the MSD of Martinsville and others to put together a course list that reflects the academic needs of the community. “We are excited to be able to offer courses to the Martinsville community. Our mission is to provide academic opportunities to everyone in our region, not just those able to come to our campus.”
Ivy Tech-Bloomington’s Corporate and Continuing Education Services (CCES) will also offer courses in Martinsville this fall. Courses include Computers Don’t Byte!, Internet and E-mail Savvy, Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2002 for Beginners, Spanish for Conversation and the Workplace and Milan to Martinsville: Learn to Cook and Eat an Italian Meal. CCES courses begin the week of September 13th.
