Monroe County Commissioners Proclaim August as

 “Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington Month”

BLOOMINGTON, IN – The Monroe County Commissioners today proclaimed August to be “Ivy Tech Community College–Bloomington Month” in Monroe County. Legislation adopted in the most recent session of the General Assembly established Ivy Tech Community College as Indiana’s only publicly-supported community college.

 The proclamation states that Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington has evolved from a technical and professional school to its current status as Indiana’s second-largest—and fastest-growing—institution of higher education. It also states the college is creating a “brain gain” each year with 91 percent of its graduates living and working locally.

 John Whikehart, Ivy Tech Community College – Bloomington Chancellor, says that the support of the Monroe County Commissioners is greatly appreciated. “Ivy Tech continues to grow in an effort to meet the needs of our community; however, we would not be able to do this without the support of our local commissioners.”

Fall classes begin August 22, 2005, at Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington.
