Ivy Tech - Bloomington professor to be published in The Journal of Allied Health

Bloomington, Ind.Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington professor and Radiation Therapy program chair, Dr. Larry Swafford, has had an article accepted for publication in The Journal of Allied Health. The manuscript is entitled, “Determinants of Job Satisfaction Among Radiation Therapy Faculty.”

Dr. Larry Swafford’s involvement in the Life Sciences industry is evident of Ivy Tech - Bloomington’s continued interest in the growth of the field. In September of 2008, Ivy Tech - Bloomington was named the co-recipient of the "Workforce Development Award," with Monroe County Government and the Monroe County Redevelopment Commission for the creation of the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences. Ivy Tech – Bloomington’s Radiation Therapy and Biotechnology programs and the newly-created Regulatory Affairs certificate also establish Ivy Tech – Bloomington as a leader in the growth of the Life Sciences in south central Indiana.

Dr. Larry Swafford has been with Ivy Tech - Bloomington for over two years, leading the growth of its Radiation Therapy program which was established in 2005. The program has been a strong addition to Ivy Tech’s commitment to the growth of Life Science initiatives through education and professional development. Students in the program receive classroom instruction along with clinical education opportunities that help them build skills in developing strong patient/professional relationships. Ivy Tech – Bloomington is partnered with medical centers and oncology clinics throughout Indiana, which allows students to take part in clinical practice at their facilities.

The Journal of Allied Health is the official publication of the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP). The Journal is the only interdisciplinary allied health periodical, publishing scholarly works related to research and development, feature articles, research abstracts and book reviews.
