Tonight's Picnic with Pops is great community happening

Tonight's 14th annual Picnic with the Pops on the grounds of Ivy Tech Community College officially kicks off the week leading into the July 4 holiday weekend.

The annual celebration has grown from a single patriotic outdoor concert to one of Monroe County's largest community gatherings, featuring a full evening of music performances, kid-friendly activities and patriotic tributes. Over the years, Picnic with the Pops has become a favorite venue for family reunions, neighborhood gatherings and corporate mini-retreats.

Some sit at creatively decorated tables; others lounge on blankets. Some bring simple picnic fare; others bring gourmet meals. Patriotic apparel, table decorations and accessories turn the green

We salute the many volunteers who make the annual Picnic with the Pops such a spectacular event. And for those in the audience — have fun this evening!
